I have been practicing yoga on and off for about five years. I go through seasons of my life where I practice more than others, due to the current high demands in my work and home environment. During this time at home, I have been working on finding more ways to stay disciplined practicing yoga on a daily basis. Yoga allows me to feel more centered and at peace with my life and the decisions I make. Yoga combined with meditation, positive parenting, and overall wellness have made a large impact in my life, and I would encourage everyone to try it out for themselves! What a better time to begin practicing yoga than International Yoga Day? Keep reading for 5 great reasons to start doing yoga!

FLEXIBILITY

STRESS RELIEF

The main reason I enjoy doing yoga is stress relief. Even on my most anxious or stressed days, getting in a 15 minute practice will do wonders for my stress levels. I have found that by taking time to do yoga, I have less stress and feel an overwhelming sense of being lighter. I definitely feel like a better wife, mother, and boss when I practice yoga on an everyday basis.

DISCIPLINE

Making time for yoga is not easy! Like I said above, I still lack discipline with keeping up with a daily yoga routine, but it’s something I work on every day. I find that the discipline that comes with practicing yoga goes into other spaces of my life as well, with working out and eating healthy especially. When I make time for myself, other aspects flourish.

CLARITY

Yoga brings me time away from it all. It cuts out distractions and gives me lots of peace about the decisions that I am making, as I’m able to work through them during my practice. I love that doing yoga brings me peace that other methods of working out can not, and with peace comes a lot of mental clarity. You may also find that yoga can help you become more clear on the direction you want your life to go!

WELLNESS

Whether I am doing yoga or staying active on routine, I often find that I begin making healthier decisions that effect my overall wellness. I eat better, drink more water, make more time for sleep, and be more mindful in my relationships. Yoga can definitely become a slow trickling effect into other great aspects of your life to improve.
