Celebrating Real Beauty | Dove

Thank you Dove for sponsoring this post. How do you define #RealBeauty?

This was my first year watching the Emmy's! Every year I normally pass on watching because I have something else planned, but this year I decided to host an Emmy's Party with my family & friends to celebrate Dove's new film, "Meet Diana". I told my friends & family to bring their girls, because Real Beauty Productions educates women the importance of what #RealBeauty looks like, and I believe that it's important for the upcoming generation to see that they are more then what the media tells them.

Ready to watch the Emmy's!

Many women will sometimes go through changes to their appearance throughout their lives. Real Beauty Productions recently launched it's third film, "Meet Diana", that demonstrates how women live with the challenges that life gives them, and recover belief in their own #RealBeauty. Diana Wright is a teacher, athlete, and mother of two girls that lost her leg in a car accident. Diana reclaimed confidence in her appearance after her accident and demonstrates #RealBeauty by continuing to run. Diana is an amazing example of women who help the next generation regain confidence in their lives.

Aimery was at the Emmy's party too! It's never too early to start teaching self love and confidence.

Dove partnered with Shonda Rhimes to launch Real Beauty Productions to hear personal stories from real women, like Diana, to give them the power of voice to show the true definition of beauty across all media. It's so easy for us all to get caught up in the beauty that the media shows us, when 7 in 10 women can not relate to depictions across film, TV, and media. During the Emmy's, Dove and Shonda Rimes recognized real women to make a change of what the media celebrates as #RealBeaty on the screen. I believe that it is important to raise a community of women that bring up the next generation of girl's self-esteem.

I love being able to celebrate #RealBeauty with my family & friends!

Did you know that 72% of girls around the world feel pressure from the media to be as beautiful as the media tells them to be? The models that we see in magazines, online, and on social media are showing girls what they "should be". These expectations are not only unrealistic (because let's be real, it's mostly photoshopped) but hurtful to girls being brought up spending hours looking at daily.

Yes, everyone brought their kids. It's so important to bring up the self-esteem of the next generation of men & women!

I love partnering with Dove, because Dove believes that all women can have a positive inspiration on the next generation. Together Dove, Shonda and a 100% female crew celebrate the diverse beauty of REAL women. One way we can join Dove is by showing the girls in our life that they can own their own beauty with confidence. The Dove Self-Esteem Project has given over 20 million young people from all over the world education on how to have body confidence and self-esteem; and Dove has a goal to reach 20 million more people by 2020. I believe it is important for girls to have a positive relationship to the beautiful person they see in the mirror. I want to make a difference in the upcoming generation of women and change the way that girls look at beauty, don't you? You can find out how to make a difference at Dove.com/RealBeauty.
