5 Ways to Prepare for your Baby's First Day of Daycare

Six months ago I decided that I was going to making blogging my full time job, and shortly after I realized I couldn't have Aimery at home with me while I was working. After considering all of my options, I decided that the best choice for me was to send Aimery to daycare full time. This definitely was not an easy decision! There aren't many things that are harder then sending your little one to daycare for the first time. Going from spending almost every waking hour with your baby to giving them over to someone else to take care of while you're away is not easy! The first few days, weeks, and even months can be difficult. But it will get easier! Here are some ways to prepare for your baby's first day of daycare.

1. Do your research
Make sure to do your research and visit many daycares in the area before settling on one! Read reviews online, ask other mothers in your community, and call each daycare to schedule a visit. Taking the time to make sure the one you have chosen the one that is the best fit for your family will make you feel more comfortable when dropping your baby off on their first day!

2. Let someone else drop your baby off
If you have someone else who can drop your baby off for their first day, I would definitely recommend it! Ask your hubby or someone else that you trust to drop your little one off on their first day. I was really sad on Aimery's first day, and it was a lot easier for me to say goodbye at the house then at the daycare center.

3. Remind yourself that you are being a GREAT mom
You have a reason for not staying home with your baby. Maybe that reason is working at a job you love or providing for your family. Whatever the reason may be, just remember that you are a great mom even though you're not with your baby every day! You are showing your child that you're willing to work hard in order to give them the world. And guess what? Your little one is still going to love you even if you decide to send them to daycare. If anything, they will appreciate you even more during the time you have together.

4. Get your little one's things organized
You will feel a lot better if you prepare for your baby's first day the weekend before! When you visit the daycare, don't forget to ask for a list of everything you'll need to bring for your baby while they are at the center. Some daycares will ask for diapers, wipes, diaper cream, extra clothes, sippy cups, etc. Make sure to label all of your little one's things so they don't get mixed in with the other children's things. We use Name Bubbles Clothing Labels to tag Aimery's clothes for daycare! They are laundry safe, waterproof, and fade-resistant so we never have to worry about them coming off! Simply press-and-stick these name tags to your little one's clothing and eliminate having to use messy markers on clothing. They also have dishwasher safe labels that are perfect for sippy cups! Check out Name Bubbles here.

5. Know that your baby will be fine!
You have taken the time to choose the best daycare for them and you've prepared for their first day. You're a great mom! And you can have comfort knowing that your baby will be just fine during their first day of daycare.
