3 NATURAL REMEDIES FOR KIDS’ OCCASIONAL COUGHS

Ever since starting preschool in the fall, Aimery has been showing symptoms of what I like to call the “preschooler sickness”. If you are a toddler mom then I don’t have to tell you how easy it is for our little ones to pick up germs from their friends which results in months of a stubborn occasional cough that won’t go away! Since we live a natural lifestyle, I have been trying out every remedy in the book to help Aimery feel better both during the day + night. Keep reading for the three natural remedies that work best for us!
MOMMY’S BLISS ORGANIC COUGH SYRUPS
I am very careful with what supplements I give Aimery when he isn’t feeling well. I want something that works while having organic ingredients. The last time he was under-the-weather, we tried giving him Mommy’s Bliss Organic Cough Syrups- Nighttime and it helped us BOTH sleep better! Mommy’s Bliss was founded by Roshan Kaderali: a mom, pediatric nurse, midwife and doula who is passionate about creating products that are safe, effective, pediatrician-recommended and trusted by moms everywhere. When it comes to products for our little ones, simpler is always better! Mommy’s Bliss crafts their products with the purest formulas possible. They choose organic ingredients whenever possible and do not use artificial colors, dairy, gluten or soy in their products. Their nighttime cough syrup is great for kids who need help with occasional cough due to an irritated throat. Pick them up at Target and on Target.com! THE ESSENTIAL OIL SHOWER STEAM
I have been doing the essential oil shower steam ever since Aimery’s first cold as a baby. I bring a bunch of toys (or the iPad for desperate times) into the bathroom and close all the doors and vents. I turn the shower on high heat and pour essential oils like eucalyptus, thieves, clove and lavender into the shower, and it acts like a huge diffuser! Aimery and I will play or cuddle outside of the shower while we breathe in the shower steam. Aimery normally feels better right away.
COCONUT OIL RUB
Ditch your toxic vapor rubs and turn to coconut oil instead! Simply melt your coconut oil and add 10 drops of lavender, eucalyptus and chamomile essential oils (frankincense also works well). Allow to cool and become solid again. Before naps or bedtime, apply oil to your little one’s chest, wrists and temples. Aimery absolutely loves applying oils - so much that he’ll remind me if I forget!
