When the leaves change and the weather drops, I know it’s time for my favorite season of the year! As we approach this new season of life as a family of four this October, Ben and I have been looking for ways to spend quality time with Aimery and activities to do when she’s finally here. I love the fall time because the air is crisp, the outfits are cozy, and there are so many fun things to do together as a family. Whether it’s a Halloween movie night at home or taking a drive through town to see the foliage, there’s endless amounts of fall activities for families to do together.

BAKE APPLE CIDER DONUTS

One of my favorite fall drinks is warm apple cider, but there’s honestly nothing better than biting into a freshly homemade apple cider donut. I know you can buy them at the grocery store or your local market, but baking together as a family is way more fun. Aimery loves helping us in the kitchen, so I can’t wait for our annual apple cider donut baking day!

GO APPLE/PUMPKIN PICKING

There are so many apple orchards and pumpkin patches near us that are tons of fun during the fall season. A lot of those places also have corn mazes and sunflower fields to enjoy as well. We love picking apples to make our own apple cider at home and pumpkins for carving (and the seeds!!). Picking your own apples and pumpkins is such a great family date day and you’ll have plenty of photo opportunities too.

CARVE/PAINT PUMPKINS

Now that you’ve gone and picked the best pumpkins in the patch, you can also spend time carving and painting your pumpkins! This is one of Aimery’s favorite fall activities because he loves art projects, especially painting. I also love that it gives me some homemade front porch fall decor for our home!

MAKE A GIANT LEAF PILE

Ben and Aimery insist on making a giant leaf pile every year and I can’t wait for baby girl to participate in the tradition next year. We have this space behind our home that has a ton of trees around it and makes for the perfect leaf pile spot. You can even teach your kids about foliage and why the leaves change as you play to keep the learning going outside the classroom.

CAMP IN YOUR BACKYARD

If you’re looking for something fun to do while staying home, try backyard camping! This is one of the easiest ways to spend time as a family while also having fun doing a special activity. All you’ll need for this camping experience is a tent, sleeping bags, snacks, drinks, flashlights, and a laptop to watch movies!  You definitely don’t have to sleep outside through the night, but even just having a movie night outside in the tent would be a fun fall evening activity.

There’s so many options for ways to spend time together as a family this fall. What is your family going to do this season? Are there any fall festivals near you? I’d love to get some ideas from you guys!
