Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays! I love the idea of dedicating a day to being grateful for the people and things in your life! This year is going to be extra special because it’s our first holiday that we are celebrating as an official family. Ben and I each have our own traditions growing up, so we’re excited to combine them, and also try out some new activities this year!

Watching the Macy’s Day Parade
I always loved waking up on Thanksgiving and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade with my family. The parade is a classic when it comes to the holiday and has been a staple in our traditions since I was little. Aims is getting old enough now where he can appreciate it and loves seeing all of the big balloons of his favorite characters. We keep saying that one year we will make it to New York City to see it in person, but for now are totally fine watching it from the comfort and warmth of our home!

Host a Friendsgiving
I love celebrating Thanksgiving to highlight the people I’m grateful to have in my life. My friends are a huge part of that, especially over the course of the last year. I’ve really grown a lot and realized the type of people I need in my life and I want to have a dinner and thank my friends who have always been there. Having a great support system has been key for me lately as much as I tell my friends how much they mean to me, I want to show them how much I truly appreciate them. We are hosting our first Friendsgiving this year in our new home and I couldn’t be more excited. We all bring a dish and spend time catching up and reliving old memories. With busy schedules it can be hard to set aside time in our daily lives, so I really look forward to this day all together!
Say what we’re Thankful for at Dinner
Every year we have a family dinner to celebrate the holiday! We have a tradition that before we eat we all go around and say what we’re thankful for. I’ve always loved doing this because it poses an opportunity to express your thanks for the people that I sometimes take for granted. For example, my parents are are so helpful with Aimery are are such an amazing example of a healthy and happy relationship for him to look up to. I’m so thankful to have such a close relationship with my parents, I truly don’t know what I would do without them. Ben’s family has been so supportive of our relationship, which means the world to me. They have chosen to love Aimery and I as Ben does and I don’t know how I got so lucky.
Throughout the craziness of our daily lives, I always look forward to Thanksgiving to stop and take a moment to look at what we have. There are a lot of things we are especially grateful for this year and I look forward to sharing that with the people I love most. Is there any Thanksgiving activities your family does to celebrate the holiday?
