5 Ways to Refresh a Bedroom this Spring - Aimery's Bedroom Update
This blog post was sponsored by Purple and all opinions are my own.
The spring cleaning bug bit me recently. I love the feeling of a fresh home, so I’ve been busy cleaning and redecorating. Aimery’s room was in need of a serious update, so what better time to refresh his space! He’s getting to be older and he loves his independence, so I want to be able to create a space that he feels comfortable and confident in. There are both affordable and pricey changes that can be made to refresh a space, so any budget can come along on this journey! Keep reading to see how we refreshed Aimery’s room this spring.
Add Some Drawer Dividers
If everything has a place, then keeping the room organized after our spring refresh should be easier. Drawer dividers help to keep the clothes from piling together and creating a bigger mess. Creating these homes for certain items allows Aimery to feel more confident when we clean his room together. He knows where belongings go so he can independently put them away. This also helps to break the habit of shoving everything under the bed and calling it a day.
Create a Toy Rotation System
Mama, I know you’ve walked into a room with an entire toy bucket flipped over because your kid wanted something that was at the bottom. We’ve all been there! I’ve found that instead of a toy bin/basket, a shelf that they can reach works best. This way, Aims will be able to see what he has sitting out, rather than having to dig. Then, I began a toy rotation system that helps me to keep the room clean while also helping reduce toy fatigue. Toy fatigue happens when kids have too many options, so even the best toys seem lackluster. Putting toys on a rotation help to keep Aimery engaged in what he’s playing with while also staying organized.
Update the Mattress
When my family moved into our current home, Aimery’s room was the first place I started decorating. He got a twin size Purple mattress that fit the room perfectly. Now that he’s older, we decided to upgrade his bed again. We took Aims in store to test the Purple mattress options, and he decided on the Purple Hybrid that comes with a StretchMax Cover, 2” Purple Grid, and responsive support coils. I can’t say that I’ll be mad if there are days that I need to sleep in Aimery’s room! He made a great choice because there are 1,800 air channels built into the grid pattern on the mattress. The material is a hyper-elastic gel that supports your sleeping position, while still being able to spring back into place as you move and turn. The Grid pattern isn’t uncomfortable because there’s a layer of padding that helps to support points of typical pain like your hips and shoulders. Plus, now that the weather is getting warmer, a breathable material is ideal to keep Aims comfortable all night. I grabbed him some new bedding to finish off the bed. There’s a Memorial Day Sale going on right now, so we were able to get in at a great time! They’re offering up to $400 off the total price. That includes up to $200 off a mattress and up to $200 off a bundle from May 19 - June 8!
Rearrange the Furniture
A simple push of a dresser can change the entire vibe of a room. If your budget is small, move the furniture placement around for a quick change! It’s even been shown that rearranging furniture in a room can make you feel more creative, uplifted, and happier. Plus, it makes the room feel refreshed.
Make it Smell Good
A stinky room is not a fresh room. For a complete refresh, I opened the windows and found some odor neutralizing gel beads to hide in the corner. Candles aren't a safe option, so an essential oil diffuser is a great solution for us.
This spring, I went on a deep home refresh and Aimery’s room was my favorite project so far. The Purple mattress upgrade made the biggest difference and he’s obsessed with his new bed! Did the spring cleaning bug bite you yet? What’s on your list? Let me know in the comments below!
