Daily List for Kids (Free Printable)
As we are preparing for baby #2, we are working with Aimery to become more independent. Mornings are becoming especially hard for me at this point in pregnancy, as I’m waking up exhausted and can’t seem to get enough sleep at night. Baby girl has been keeping me up at all hours kicking! That being said, I’ve started working with Aimery this week to complete a daily checklist so I don’t have to remind him of everything that needs to be done before heading off to school. I created him a personalized checklist that reflects our morning routine! I’m sharing our morning routine and a printable below!
6:30AM - Aimery’s time-to-rise light turns green, indicating he can now choose between playing on his iPad, reading books, or playing quietly in his room. Getting him to not wake me up first thing in the morning has taken months to work through, but he finally has started getting up on his own this week and it’s been SO great!
7:30AM - His light turns red, indicating he can now leave his room and to begin working on his daily list. The time-to-rise light has been a game changer for us, as Aimery is a visual learner and it’s easy for him at this stage of development to understand color over time. We let him choose the colors for each action which makes him feel apart of the family decision making. We use this one! Once his light changes, he starts his day by going potty, getting dressed, and brushing his teeth. At this point, I am up and ready to assist.
7:40AM - He eats breakfast and then gives our puppy food and water. We are also working with him to make his own breakfast and put his dishes in the sink!
8:00AM - He next assists me with emptying the dishwasher! At this point he can unload silverware (no knives), plastic cups, and plastic bowls. He enjoys doing these little chores with me and we have started making time to also talk about our daily expectations in the process.
8:10AM - He gets his shoes on and has independent play until it is time to leave for school. He has recently enjoyed setting up train sets all over the house, so normally that’s his go-to and incentive to get through his list as quickly as possible so he has time to play.
This schedule has been really working for us on days where we are in a rush to get out of the door in the morning, and allows me an extra hour of sleep if I need it. On the weekends, we do take mornings slower but the schedule remains for the most part. Aimery enjoys seeing his daily list and checking off items when complete! Sound like something you could use for your kids? I’m sharing a free printable at the bottom of this post for your kids!
