5 Home Workouts for the Whole Family

We decided to start working out from home for many reasons. Mostly, because we had a three year old watching our every move. We want to be a good example for Aimery and not only model healthy behaviors, but also show him that taking care of ourselves is the best way to take care of each other. Looking for some ideas to get the whole family moving and active? Keep reading for five of our favorite at home workouts!
FLOOR EXERCISES
The easiest way for our family to stay active together is getting on the floor! Whether you have little ones or older kids at home, each floor exercise can work for them! Our favorite floor exercises include:
Bicep Curls
Easily get your bicep curls in with holding little ones, or have the whole family curl canned foods that you can find in your cabinet!Crab Dips
Place your little one on your lower stomach and move your hips off the ground! Older kids can also participate by doing the crab walk!Push Ups
Lay your little one under you and give a kiss every time you do a push up! For older kids, try high fives between your own sets.Lunges
Hold your kids in your arms and try doing front lunges, it’s a great leg workout!Planks
Competition time - who can plank the longest?!
YOGA
I have been practicing yoga with Aimery for over a year now, and it has brought so much light to positive parenting and becoming an influence in his life. Aimery has learned how to calmly breathe in stressful situations and meditate when he becomes angry. It has brought us closer emotionally and has allowed us to also get in great workouts while at home. Cosmic Kids Yoga on Youtube and the Headspace App have been great resources for our family!
CARDIO IDEAS
Making time for cardio has been an important part of our everyday while being at home. Finding new ways to stay active through cardio at home has been especially important with an energetic three year old! We always try to find new, fun ways to break a sweat while at home. Some of which include:
Running Laps
Get ready to race, at home! We set up a race path in our home to make room for Aimery to run from one side of our room to the other. Don’t want your kids running inside? Send them for a few laps around the outside of your house!Stair Climbs
Stair climbs have been a great way to get out Aimery’s energy while providing a great leg workout! For older kids only, under supervision, of course!Indoor Trampoline
Over the holidays, we got Aimery an indoor trampoline and it has been the best way to keep him staying active throughout the day!
DANCE ALONG VIDEOS
Time to get dancing! Our absolute favorite way to workout as a family is to dance it out! Turn up the music, gather the whole family, and start dancing! There are also so many great workouts that include dancing like Zumba, you can find awesome resources online.
TAKE IT OUTSIDE
Thankfully, going outside isn’t cancelled! There are many ways to workout without having to travel or head to a gym. Take a run around the block, go for a hike, or do a family bike ride! It’s important to get some fresh air and sun on your face even when we spend most of our days indoors.
Although it’s not always easy to find the time to work out at home, it’s so fun to get the whole family involved for a workout! How has your family been getting active during this time at home? Let me know in the comments below!
