5 Healthy New Year’s Resolutions

A new year (and new decade!) call for updated routines and habits. It can be hard in the busy day to day life to stay consistent towards your health goals. Here are five easy ways I plan to stay on track and incorporate aspects of wellness into my routine in 2020!

PRACTICE GRATITUDE

Practicing gratitude is something I’ve been doing for a while and have even started introducing into Aimery’s routine! Every day, at the beginning or end of the day, we sit down and acknowledge the things in our lives we are grateful for! In the stress of daily life, it’s so helpful to have a daily check-in with yourself to improve mental strength and self-esteem! I really want to start keeping a gratitude journal, to enhance perspective and balance in my life!

MINDFUL EATING

As someone who works from home, it can be so easy to snack while your eyes are glued to a screen! I find when I’m distracted it often leads to overeating. Some days get busy and I only have small breaks to fit in meals, so I tend to eat quickly without paying attention to what I’m eating. In the new year, I want to slow down and practice mindfulness at mealtimes. Putting down the utensils between bites can be really helpful in paying attention to the food you’re eating. That way it’s easier to enjoy your food and notice when you become full!

DRINKING MORE CRANBERRY JUICE

MEAL PREPPING WEEKLY

As a busy mom and business owner, free times throughout the week are few and far between. Preparing healthy meals on the go seems near impossible and has discouraged me from my health goals in the past. I recently discovered meal prep and is something I want to incorporate going into 2020! By spending the evening on Sundays preparing for a week of meals, I not only save time but allow myself to choose healthier options as well!

MORE EXERCISE  

In the past I’ve always found myself making excuses, that exercise is not always something that I have time for! Even though I may not be able to set aside large amounts of time every day to devote to exercise, there are easy ways to make it part of my routine! When running errands for work, I always park far away so I can get additional steps in. Wearing a fitness tracker has helped motivate movement for me as well! Ultimately, you have to find a way of exercise that is fun for you and easy to stick to!
